Extremely cold out there today...

A frosted shroom... the goblet (Pseudoclitocybe cyathiformis).

Went walking from Woody Bay to Heddon's Mouth and back. Freezing cold... but beautiful as always.

Paid a visit to the Valley of Rocks... and the goats were out and about.

Another new friend, and this one brought a tasty Christmas pudding with him.

More book post... 'The Mayor's Wife' by Anna Katharine Green, published by The Bobbs-Merrill Company in 1907.

Azalea... climbing a pole.

It's extremely likely that these will be our final sherds of this year. Only a tiny area of riverbank was accessible (about two feet), and even that was being engulfed as we left. Hubs snatched the brown one up from under the water as it passed by. The river never ceases to be kind.

Stopped for a rest during today's ramble and ate my first mince pie of the year... filled with mincemeat, brandy, and port, and topped with a vanilla flavoured Viennese biscuit. I have to say that this will not be my last one.😍

Book post... A couple of Celia Fremlin books for the cold nights in front of the fire that we're about to have (starting Monday, I think). But Randolph Ratty says they look way to frightening for him... 😳

Me... crossing the bridge at Rockford, wearing so many layers now that I can hardly move my arms!

More loveliness in the post. 'A Wayside Tavern' by Norah Lofts (1st US edition), and a letter from the good lady to a reader called Mrs Flack, dated August 1978. Mrs Flack sent the photograph on the left to be signed, and Norah, saying that it was 'completely out of date', sent back a recent photo.

Found growing in one of our garden pots... A chip cherry (or redlead roundhead, Leratiomyces ceres).
