Hip-hop has long been the dominant pop cultural influence, and to have it on full display at the Super Bowl was sure to enrage MAGA. Pop cultural affirmation is how people believe they are cool. Men dislike Taylor Swift for the same reason: "This isn't for you." People hate that, but it's awesome.

I also want to emphasize: the informal tools we have at our disposal to address the threat Musk presents to this country are extremely viable. Musk's power derives almost entirely from Tesla, which is highly vulnerable to boycott, divestment, and sanctions of all kinds. We have to embrace that power
