At some point we're going to have to have a conversation about the perverse incentive we've created as a country: disobey an order to commit murder and you go to jail immediately without trial, but if you commit a murder there's no prospect of punishment at all. That's a problem.

Hegseth order on first Caribbean boat strike, officials say: Kill them all
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a verbal order to kill all crew members in the Sept. 2 strike on a suspected drug boat. Navy SEALs fired a second missile.

No one shld lose sight of the fact that the Guard was only in DC as part of an extended political messaging stunt. The shooter is guilty for the attacks/carnage. Donald Trump is responsible for them. This is the collateral damage of Trump abusing his powers as President.

My initial reaction is that it's bad winning on a technicality rather than with an emphatic statement that "this action is wrong on its face, regardless of who was appointed and how".

This is how you end up with courts haggling over what a semicolon meant in 1983 and how that impacts your rights.

"The CDC is lying to you about vaccines and autism" is a sentence I genuinely never thought I'd see written by a highly respected doctor and it also be 100% true.

Unlike a lot of things happening right now, the distrust being sowed by the CDC right now will take generations to fix, costing lives.

Being unable to sign Schwarber because you owe Candelario and Arraez a combined $30 million would be the *chef's kiss* microcosm of the past 5 years of Reds moves.
The most fascinating free agent of the winter isn't Pete Alonso or Bo Bichette.

It's Luis Arraez. We finally get to see how teams really value batting average.

On what he brings, and the one very obvious team that should sign him ...

Making sense of Arraez's complex free-agent case
This winter features what just might be the most divisive case we’ve seen for a free agent in years. We’re talking about Luis Arraez, who is either “the best contact hitter alive” or “a below-average ...

In a new phase 3 trial, people randomly assigned to receive a flu shot made with modified mRNA were 34.5% less likely to be diagnosed with an influenza-like illness than people given a standard flu shot made with inactivated virus.

We need to stop the anti-science attacks against mRNA vaccines!

Depressing write up because it's 100% correct down to every last comma. With just a bit more investment from ownership, the Reds could be a 90+ win team (Add Schwarber, bolster bullpen).

But right now the plan seems to be to trade a SP from our "rotation of a 90 win team" and not add a strong bat.

Also most voters have just never thought remotely seriously about policy. “Should we get rid of illegal immigrants? Well, of course; they’re illegal!” There’s nothing deeper than that going on until they start seeing what that actually entails.
Some Dems and pundits overread the significance of Trump's win. They looked at dissatisfaction with the border and discerned a seismic cultural reaction to immigration levels inside the country. The former was real. The latter is a mirage.
