multiple tells here that this isn't Zuck just bending the knee to Trump, or trying to compete with Elon for influence

he's personally transphobic and wants to hurt his own employees
internally at Meta:
-trans and nonbinary themes stripped from Messenger
-enforcement policy now allows for the denial of trans people's existence
-tampons removed from men's restrooms
-DEI programs shuttered
-Kaplan briefed top conservative influencers the night before policy changes were announced

the big tech world has wanted to be as openly ‘anti-woke’ as elon musk has been, they’ve long agree with him but figured social sentiment was firmly against reactionary world views. now that musks gambit paid off, we’re going to be seeing more of this for awhile
Rogan interview with Zuckerberg that dropped this morning is something to behold. basically him dumping years of anger at the media, the government, social discussion

clearly all pent up for years and now allowing himself to do it because of Trump coming to power

I was talking with a reporter the other day about this. They asked why I thought guys like Bezos, Soon-Shiong, and Zuckerberg were suddenly so open with their Trumpy politics. I said that I thought it was because Elon Musk showed them that they could and they wouldn't face any real repercussions.

It feels to me like many, many, many corporations are living in the handful of days post-election when it seemed like Trump had won by a much larger margin than he had. Maybe that’s the safe bet, and I know these guys think trans people are annoying, but it seems like doing capitalism wrong to me.

Seems like this isn't just about "free speech," huh

Happy felon #FAFO day! Even though this sentencing won’t have much teeth, the fact that he will go down in history as a felon burns his biscuits.

1. I reiterate that I don't think bots/trolls get how comprehensive the "block" function here is.

2. I also think they don't quite get how prevalent "don't engage, just block" is as an ethos here.

3. Bluesky is a neighborhood party: everyone is welcome until they're a jerk. Then out they go.

It's not a lie that the hardest thing for me about "don't engage, just block" has been not adding the sarcastic kiss-off just before the block. I lived for that shit. But, one, that's still engagement, which is what they want, and two, they don't deserve my effort, I'll save that for the worthy.
The urge to reply with extreme sarcasm has been hard to resist. I realize it's wasted on them and now i just block them all.

1. YouTuber Becca Farsace (formerly of The Verge) put out a video outlining her ethical guidelines for reviews, promotional trips, sponsorships and so on, which I think is both smart to do, and an acknowledgement that the line between reviews and advertisement is often fuzzy.
