My family’s dog, Pico, had a face he’d make whenever he realized that we were talking about him. Today, our first day without Pico since half my lifetime ago, he’s all we can talk about. So, I imagine Pico looking at us like this.

Today marks one year since I started estrogen. I swear the date was a coincidence. In terms of personal joy, this has been the best year of my life. My freedom did not come at the expense of anyone else. Gender-affirming care is lifesaving and essential. There is still time.
