Count me as very skeptical that we’ll be better off by “consolidating” conservation authorities in Ontario. These are agencies with significant local knowledge and experience that are tasked with making sure our communities don’t flood.

Let’s be clear what happened here: a developer launched spurious complaints against people who oppose the Tewin development. It cost the city nearly $500k to investigate what amounted to rounding errors. An abuse of process and a waste of taxpayer money.

I live in Queensway Terrace North. My street FINALLY got a sidewalk & a decent drainage system. What a fantastic impact - more people out walking with strollers & mobility aids, decent management of rainwater, good access to the bus & incoming LRT, & it looks great.

This outcome is very disappointing.

As one resident with mobility challenges put it, accessibility is always more important than neighbourhood character.

This decision also sets a concerning precedent for an important active transportation policy. #OttWalk #OttRoll
