Although I am inevitably caught up in the likely dire implications for my department (Music), it isn’t just us in the Faculty of Arts or in the university under threat.

100% deductions for ASOS is inhumane and destructive. We thought we had the backing of our own national union on this point. To see them implement what is a draconian policy (and not yet fully tested in the courts) against the colleagues who keep our branches running is devastating.

Our ballot results are in!

-63% of members voted
-84% of voting members said YES to action short of strike
-72% of voting members said YES to strike action

Which means our call for industrial action has passed and we have a mandate to fight back!

But this is exactly why we have already started organising .
