Someone came into my house and nicked all my stuff, leaving me with scraps. I decided to fight back because I wanted to keep my own stuff. But they didn’t like that so they started dropping bombs and kidnapped me so they could have all my stuff again

New paper out. Aim was to extend Weinberg’s general scalar tensor theory (up to field redefs) from 4th to 6th order. Goes beyond the horndeski obsession. Applications to cosmology and strong gravity. Wonder if UoN’s daft academic profile tool will ever know we wrote it? arxiv.org/abs/2512.13453

In the weeks after my sister passed, many in particle cos offered to cover teaching/tutorials to help. That collegiality is amazing. At same time, UoN launched an “academic profile” tool that pits academics against each other to fight for jobs. Why try and destroy the spirit that carried me through?

Our VC has just revealed plans for our university. The SSR targets are reckless beyond belief. In physics we would have to lose almost half our staff and would rank 42/44 physics depts in the U.K. Pls don’t do this to a Nobel Prize winning dept
