Outstanding work, Emily! I'm so excited to see this cool story out! What a great example of "that's odd" being the most important words in science.
I could not be more excited to have our lab's first story online where we report our discovery that HDACs ~reverse~ their activity to ADD acyl groups to lysine! We found this for our favorite ketone body, BHB, but this pathway controls other lysine modifications too!🧵

Cuts to the VA research have been hard. I've lost colleagues, including one studying Veteran homelessness. But losing VA research hurts us all.

(I'm expressing my own views and not necessarily those of the VA or the US government.)
NIH cuts are getting the press, but VA research is getting slashed too. What do we lose when VA research goes away? Here's some greatest hits: The nicotine patch, invention of the cardiac pacemaker, first successful liver transplant, development of the CAT/CT scan

VA Research Funding Slashed
Though not as prominent as the NIH, VA researchers play a major role in advancing basic health science. Hundreds of projects have been cut.

I strongly support the NIH Diversity Supplement Program. Addressing the severe lack of diversity among biomedical researchers improves the quality of research. It's not a level playing field. This program helps restore equity through mentored training. Rescinding this program is a big mistake

There are already many articles for which there is more attention on Bluesky than on other comparable micro-blogging sites, meaning the academic community and the general public have clearly adopted Bluesky as one of its core places to disseminate and discuss new research.

One generous gift from Dr. Jim Johnson started a snowball rolling, out of which grew the Buck Clinical Research Core. From one gift for one small study grew millions in funding for a half dozen or more geroscience clinical studies, and still growing. You can have an enormous impact! Thank you!
During this season of giving, we want to express our thanks to our donors. We’ve created a special video featuring scientists from across the Buck, sharing how your contributions have helped make a big difference in our research. We are incredibly grateful for you!
