I could not be more excited to have our lab's first story online where we report our discovery that HDACs ~reverse~ their activity to ADD acyl groups to lysine! We found this for our favorite ketone body, BHB, but this pathway controls other lysine modifications too!🧵

One key theme will be about biological mechanisms of aging as common drivers of chronic disease both in the brain and in the rest of the body, simultaneously. What are the gaps and opportunities to bring this #geroscience concept into clinical practice?

MSTAR includes summer research support, lecture series, meet-the-profs discussions, a symposium for you, and clinical shadowing in geriatric medicine. You can even co-mentor a high school student. And you will submit your data to present at the national #AGS meeting!

MSTAR projects span the entire aging research field, basic science to clinical research, quantitative to qualitative. Over 70 volunteer faculty mentors, including geriatricians, geroscientists, dermatologists, intensivists, & many other subspecialists who focus on older adults.

I strongly support the NIH Diversity Supplement Program. Addressing the severe lack of diversity among biomedical researchers improves the quality of research. It's not a level playing field. This program helps restore equity through mentored training. Rescinding this program is a big mistake
