I've been saying this a while. Fraser definitely deserves a memorial - and I don't think there's one anywhere yet? Please let me know if I'm wrong on that!

Formulating a way to express my discomfort with historical figures/stories being referred to as "previously written off", "hidden" or "untold" when there isn't the equal weight placed on who these stories are being written off by or in favour of.

When people comment 'woke, over-representative' on #AThousandBlows vids etc and I tell them about the dozen (known!) Black boxers just in the 1880s, just in London, incl. two women, their response is to not reply, or to simply repeat themselves.

Anyway 🥊❤️ >>

Wrote a blog about how racists who only like white men telly keep saying 'over-representative'. My argument: ATB only has a few Black characters and they were all real people, really there, so how can it be?

A man commented: "grossly over-representative" 🤷🏻‍♀️

A few people are saying All You Need is Death, and they're right. I also think Sea Fever is an overlooked gem and enjoyed Double Blind recently. Plus, You Are Not My Mother is an amazing movie.

Finally actually deactivated my X account. Genuinely I feel sad - I set that up when I went to Canada directly out of undergrad. I'm turning 40 this year. That's how long I had that account, that's how old some of my networks there were. Woof.

The millennial experience is growing up with the internet, and watching it go from a free, open, democratic, and eclectic ecosystem to a wasteland of five websites controlled by billionaires, and now seeing it quickly fill up with AI-generated slop.

I want our World Wide Web back.

Neil Gaiman shouldn’t be treated like an extreme outlier. It’s not fame or following that enables men like Gaiman to act the way they do. It’s power. And power can be A-list celebrity status or it can be the head of any ordinary household or a leader in any local community.

The article is important, but seconding this. It is not required to (re)traumatise yourself as an act of support.
if you're not sure if you can cope with that article about Gaiman, if you already believe the accusers and have removed him from your mental roster of Okay Men, my advice is don't read it. you don't have to. the content warnings are not an exaggeration.

I adore this book and recommend it regularly - so now I'm recommending it again on BlueSky.
One of my favorite parts of one of my favorite books is in “To War With Whitaker” where the countess apologizes for using a hotel pen rather than a fountain pen. If you are into stodgy British irony and a wild true life woman’s WWII story, I highly recommend it. www.amazon.com/War-Whitaker...
