Hello! Figured an intro post would be good - it's been ages since I was on Twitter.

I work on a spacecraft, I prepare fossils, I do a fair bit of art, I make video games from time to time, and I'll probably post a decent amount of some good space and paleontology stuff plus some projects of my own!

Acting NASA Administrator Sean Duffy shared some photos this morning of Orion capsule 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 rolling to the Vehicle Assembly Building for stacking atop the Artemis II SLS rocket.

This will be the first spacecraft since Apollo 17 to carry humans to the Moon.

Today is the 120th anniversary of the description of #Tyrannosaurus rex and #Albertosaurus sarcophagus in 1905 by Henry Fairfield Osborn, the two species that would define the clade, Tyrannosauridae. A pair of dinosaur teeth, albeit very worn, belonging to these two famous species. 🧪

59 years ago today...

For the first time, the USS Enterprise appeared on the screen. It was the beginning of a long, long journey: Star Trek. 🖖

Decided to try some digital art! Some experiments with light and shadow layers eventually turned into the ISGV Valeria, a generation ship with a subset of some terran ecosystems transplanted aboard.

Post your lock screen!

Sure, I'll hop on this trend. This might be my favorite pic from the whole Apollo program - Apollo 9 EVA

Happy #FossilFriday! This is Maiasaura peeblesorum, the state fossil of Montana. Studies of this duck-billed dinosaur provided the first evidence that some dinosaurs cared for their babies. Come see Maiasaura bones, eggs, babies and more in Cretaceous Crossroads!

The Rhenopyrgus family of Edrioasteroids are really strange.

This is Rhenopyrgus viviani from the Silurian Jupiter Fm. of Quebec. It was named after my friend and I donated a specimen for the 2020 paper. There are also some ostracods and tentaculites on the plate.

A young tyrannosaur, accidentally timed well for the discovery of Khankhuuluu. Haven't done much in the way of paleoart before, and I really enjoyed this little project! Graphite on paper. #sciart #paleoart

Baragwanathia longifolia, a confusing early clubmoss from around 425 million years ago.

Described as Late Silurian (the dating is still controversial), its features are surprising for such an early plant.

This specimen is from Limestone Road, nr Yea, Victoria, Australia

I'm quite happy with the design! Big fan of keeping the iconography from the overall Artemis program patch.

Got a request from a friend for a Kirin. Ended up putting a bit of a twist on something similar to the one in Jessica Peffer's DragonArt book - which was a huge part of how I learned to draw in the first place. Graphite on paper.

New sort of surrealist space art! I went back with some white paint to make sure the stars would really pop - keeping such tiny areas clear of graphite while shading all that dark space is always a bit of a challenge.
