Well, we all survived another @constructionarium.bsky.social week. Our students were awesome, building Canary Wharf and North Greenwich stations, Milau Viaduct, and Kingsgate Footbridge. A massive well done to everyone. Now for some well earnt sleeping all round.

We have just received the results of the radiographic imaging and multi-sensor core logging carried out at the CSF by the #BGS.

In August 2024, I recorded 65 fatal landslides around the world, which claimed 414 lives. The total number of fatal landslides in 2024 continues to exceed any previous year by a significant margin, probably reflecting high global atmospheric temperatures.

There's a fascinating row occurring in Greenland over the Dickson Fjord landslide and seiche research. Essentially, government ministers are peeved that they were not informed about the outcome of the study.

Another small step on my research journey, a process for vacuum preservation for mudstone samples. I am looking forward to spending October in the @envleeds.bsky.social laboratories squashing mudstone and sealing fractures in mudstones!
