I’m a host at OPB in Portland, Oregon. I hate leaf blowers.
I’ll just say this about those 2 journos y’all are talking about.

Is there a functioning human in the mix? It feels like Harding-Kerrigan all over again.

When Trump wondered about “false tapes” of Portland protests, he was actually onto something.

What an honor to talk to Jill Lepore at #PDXBookFest! She couldn’t travel to Portland because of a personal thing, but it didn’t matter. The crowd was totally with her.

When Rob Manning pitched this story 13 years ago, I was like, “Sounds great, Rob. Good luck with that.”

Damn if he and his team didn’t do it! An amazing body of work, culminating with this incredible doc.

It began with a simple idea: Follow a group of Oregon students from kindergarten to graduation. Today, OPB's 13-year project culminates in the release of a documentary, "Class of 2025: Growing Up In Oregon Schools," telling the story of a group of those students.

It’s like, we all agree the twice-yearly clock changing is dumb and we need to stop doing it.

But it’s now a fight between the Morning People and the Evening People, and they’re dug in.

Tribalism ruins everything.

I love this thread. Great explainer of the Portland cultural protest currents that so often get simplified as “weird.”
What The Hell Is Going On, a thread:

I’ve seen some thinkpieces and posts about Portland protests that fail to understand the long-term hyperspecificity of Portland culture/humor, and frame it as a sort of shitposting meme-pilled ironic thing. Which is wrong.

So I’m gonna give you my breakdown.

Who do I know that lives near the Portland ICE facility and can see, hear and maybe even smell what’s happening there daily?

Can I and my microphone come visit? Bonus points if your balcony looks out on it all.
