This is one of the worst, most horrifying exposures we have ever seen. It is hard to overstate how bad the things that people are using tools like for are, and it's insane to pretend like these tools are anything other than nonconsensual porn machines

we try to be fair to companies and to people we write about because it’s the right thing to do ethically, legally, morally. but once we stopped caring about access and started talking to people who are affected by the rich and powerful (customers, employees) our stories got better (better scoops!)

I can see why many people find this worrying, but I am incredibly hopeful about how clergy and church life may have a moderating, grounding effect on young, radicalized men (think statue profile pics) who show up to Orthodox churches looking for a Jordan-Peterson style theology of stoic masculinity
I was kind of wondering how long it would take for this to happen, and for these reasons www.nytimes.com/2025/11/19/u...

I have never been more certain of anything in my life like I am certain that tech people who talk like this have megadosed on LLM outputs and given themselves ChatGPT disease. that's the intellectual equivalent of taking a donkey kick to the head daily! they have computer CTE!
Ok I found a part I agree with in this fever dream. It’s just that this whole piece relies on an assumption that the “hope” is a sure thing. Making AI not-a-bubble.
Which is what you need to believe to buy into a bubble—that you somehow *know* the line will continue to go up forever.

I was exposed to a tech conference against my will over the summer (work), and two brainrotted, degenerate executives went on a rant about exactly this, incorporating a bunch of Peter Thiel rhetoric about Greta Thunberg being the antichrist. pls remember these people don't care if we die

just thinking of the hope and optimism and fight that was in the women who started projects like Ms in the 70s. they'd be raging, RAGING, at what has become of the world for women msmagazine.com/2024/11/04/w...

A further three women, unnamed, were reported in the medical literature as having died as a result of restricted access to abortion care in the United States. We don't know if any of them are the same women below. journal.chestnet.org/article/S001...

And now, Tierra Walker
NEW:

In 2024, Tierra Walker was sick and getting sicker. She was also pregnant.

She knew abortion was illegal in Texas, but thought there was an exception for women like her, whose health was at risk. Doctors told her there was no emergency.

Then she died.

Walker is one of several women ProPublica found with underlying health conditions who died when they couldn’t access abortions.

I know it will never happen, but it is my dream that some creators somewhere get something other than a settlement. I don't just want money. I think you should GIVE IT BACK. open up your doom drawer of mixed-up creative works, untangle the ones you weren't given permission to use and GIVE IT BACK
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.
