That’s also the reasoning behind social media legislation to “protect kids” in the U.S. It’s explicitly stated in Project 2025 and by representatives that this is to censor trans experience and “prevent” kids from becoming trans.

I don’t know all the details of the investigation, but the UK has succumbed so throughly to psychotic levels transphobia/transmisogyny that I imagine that the murders were just being inundated with messaging that told them that it was ok to murder their classmate and “friend” because she was trans.

"Parental rights" never seems to apply to parents of trans kids getting them affirming care, or parents of disabled kids choosing more affirming and disabled-led support rather than warehousing.

When I’ve spoken to queer and trans teens (as well as all kinds of teens) about technology they overwhelmingly tend to be smart and insightful about the nuances of social media and what’s good and what’s bad and what’s necessary given broader societal conditions
