Are we still underestimating the extent to which Trump marinated in the most insane conspiratorial right-wing echo chambers post-Jan 6th? He left office in shame, holed up in Mar-A-Lago, invited Nick Fuentes over... He’s old. He has OANN brain. There's no shared reality anymore.

A fact I think that Canadians need to wrestle with is this: Is Canadian sovereignty up for debate is a question that is firmly closed for the vast majority of Canadians and firmly open for the vast majority of our institutional leaders.

I’m not one of the folks that think Cross Country Checkup and @ianhanomansing.bsky.social shouldn’t be talking about Trump’s 51st state comments, BUT this has to be one of the worst episodes I’ve ever heard.

Awful guests, confusing streeters, the hosts and producers seem unprepared. Just Brutal.

@thepressbox.bsky.social today’s only in journalism word: «ossified » (which I then googled)

Specifically have seen it in the paper this week, in regards to Trump’s tariffs for Canada.

In context, Economist Oren Cass used it when describing the « ossified status quo » of global free trade.

this path we're on really does take us to a Russianesque oligarch hellscape where the richest, biggest dipshits all get special big boy priveleges
Jake and Logan Paul were invited to the inauguration today by Trump's team.

Looks like they're in DC and will attend.

It's annoying when your entire politics is defined by 'what is bad' with zero regard for structures, systems, or processes. If all you do is say "This is unacceptable" you're just annoying, you fix something and create a solution you will see your peers pissed off despite being an improvement.

Legault has lost the plot.

Every answer is to punch down, instead of asking the CAQ created service centres to just be moderately *competent* managers of schools.

I’m an atheist and I think it’s insane to ban public prayer - there are plenty of laws already.

I can't stop thinking model collapse. Large language models do not typo. They're probabilistic. Why did they misspell these words? What else could this be?

I talked to the author of the paper on model collapse in April and he said it had already begun.

A good reminder that us bowing to Trump's stupid requests doesn't just train him to make them of us in the future, it trains him to make them of every other country in the future too.

I fully expect that instead of having a grown up conversation about the open racism and xenophobia in the #AssNat, the PLQ will get wedged into agreeing to a motion in that says something stupid like “it’s impossible for racism to exist in Québec”, while QS tries to play both sides.
