#Cloudflare has issues. This means X is not working, but there is also a downside: DOI lookups and Crossref aren't working either.

Profits from scientific publishing are eye-watering, costing us billions. In ‘The Drain of Scientific Publishing’ (arxiv.org/abs/2511.04820), (building on ‘The Strain of Scientific Publishing’ doi.org/10.1162/qss_a_00327) we show how it is harmful – and unnecessary.

I want to upload a (short) paper on ArXiv.

However, they require an ‘invite’ /recommendation from a current user.

Could anyone recommend me?

Friends, the time has come, I'm looking for a PostDoc.
If you hear of any positions (ideally in Europe/UK, starting next fall) that could be a good fit for a philosopher of chemistry, let me know! I'd love to branch out and collaborate across disciplines.

Wow!

openalex.org looks like an amazing open alternative to Google Scholar.

Citation counts etc. look very similar to GScholar on a quick vanity search.

Check it out. Opens up a lot of possibilities for metascience.
