In Faragist-occupied County Durham
So why doesn't Shabana dress like a Muslim woman 🧕 then?

In Tyneside there's even a bus route called the "Crusader" from Newcastle to South Shields (named after the 1936 "Jarrow Crusade" against unemployment): surprising that Go North East didn't face an outcry from South Shields's Yemeni community!

Surely with tax the problem isn't so much "mythology" as a foolish manifesto promise, that wasn't even necessary thanks to the golden opportunity offered by Reform splitting the right-wing vote.

More like "but you see those aren't working class, they live in trendy cities"

I have the misfortune to live in the village that had the highest Reform vote in England.

(Incidentally I've noticed that it's only in the last decade or so that I started seeing black faces here: maybe that's what's riled up the racists?)

Plenty of flags on lampposts in my part of the North East (yuk!): where were you thinking of exactly?

I suspect people who drive for a living are especially open to voting for RW populists, because it is easy to convince someone they're living in an overpopulated country if they spend much of their day stuck in traffic.

And because we went so long without building infrastructure it is far more badly needed now, which gives various bad actors (like the Chilterns NIMBYs you alluded to) far more leverage to extort monetary concessions.

I misunderstood then: I thought you were saying that it was used as an insult by Arab Muslims against local (Mizrahi) Jews, not that it was used as an insult by Ashkenazi Jews.

There were other reasons why HS2 has been so mind-bogglingly expensive: such as the choice of a too-high design speed (400 km/h!) for misguided reasons of prestige, as well as overbuilding of stations due to an unwillingness to learn from Asia on how to use station space efficiently.

Isn't the Government's actual motivation more like "what can we say to stop Red Wall voters voting Reform in the next General Election?"

Not really an "evolution": the neocons are mostly Never Trumpers these days.

(This of course wasn't Bugs Bunny's money, but money robbed from the First National Bank by Ant Hill Harry, alias "Baby-Face Finster".)

Didn't know that!

When did it first start to be used as such?

And Denmark's approach to immigration doesn't even seem to have actually weakened the far right there!

Wasn't the BNP _really_ defeated by whoever leaked their members list, and thus wrecked the little money-making racket that Nick Griffin had relied upon to fund the party?

Why not just make Radical Right parties illegal?

"Ferengi" is similar to "Firanji": the Arabic word for "Franks" which Muslims traditionally used to refer to any western Christians.

So I thought the Ferengi were supposed to be more-or-less how a devout Muslim would caricature Westerners.

They don't help: my point is that Labour just seem to be out of ideas.
November 19, 2025 at 9:21 AM
3. Hasn't Labour cried wolf re the NHS so many times already (vs the Tories) that most voters won't believe that Reform really do plan to abolish the NHS?
4. How do you improve people's lives in places (eg ex-pit villages) that have no economic function except warehousing non-productive people?
November 19, 2025 at 8:44 AM
1. All local governments are so struggling (as social care costs devour their budgets) so Reform's genuine incompetence may end up lost in the noise.
2. The people who benefit from those policies (employees and private renters) overwhelmingly don't vote Reform anyway.
