Only Egypt, Yemen and the Maghrib countries did.

Another point: while Essex (the county that first came into my mind) has a few grammar schools, selective education isn't standard county-wide the way it is in both Lincolnshire and Kent.

Why would any contemporary German want Hitler back when he left their national capital looking like this?

Traffic congestion is likely the main way in which people are negatively impacted by rising population density.

Reminds me of Katie Hopkins here in the UK.

Not really the same thing, and I find scantily clad women to be most attractive when they are in free fall!

I can't help thinking about the sensations she must be experiencing as she hurtles towards the water...

@jonchadwick.bsky.social had some even starker data in 2020 about how it was overwhelmingly non-workers who delivered Brexit, but it almost looks too stark to believe!

A truly depressing example (taken from @nickrafter.bsky.social 's Substack) of internalized social darwinism, from a poor non-white Brooklyn resident:

Wasn't Salazar's regime less about Catholicism and more about holding on to Portugal's colonial empire at all costs?

Western anti-Zionists loathe Israel FOR its alleged ethnonationalism, and Russians and Western tankies loathe Ukraine on the same basis ("Banderites").

And back in the 1970s Soviet propaganda depicted Ukrainian nationalists as both "Nazis" and pro-Israeli.

I think a lot of the most rabid Trump supporters don't even believe in any "long term gain": they just wanted to tear down a society that they saw as having betrayed their kind.

Trump: "I am your retribution!"

And from the official Vote Leave campaign:

A survey by the European Council on Foreign Relations found the UK to be one of the world's most anti-Trump countries:

If the Oder-Neisse Line was suitable punishment for Hitler's atrocities, then this new map of Eastern Europe would in my view be suitable punishment for Putin's:
