As a person from a “high-risk” country, who had to spend a month basically unbanked when I first moved to the EU because compliance, and now regularly need to provide all sorts of documents to satisfy OFAC and their EU counterparts, I am genuinely jealous of people who don’t know what “OFAC” means

Variable fonts are fun!

Received a letter from my brokerage saying that they need me to fill out a W-8BEN. The letter said “those are americans you are dealing with!!! all dates must be in MM-DD-YYYY!!!”.

Guess what format I automatically started writing my date of birth in.

While making an app recently, I ran into a very weird SwiftData behavior that caused the project to crash seemingly at random, which has sent me into a rabbit hole of Apple docs, forums, and @twostraws.bsky.social articles, so I decided to write up the debugging process :)
