On the 60th anniversary of the VRA, conservatives thought it was a good idea to launch a bus tour to support the SAVE Act-legislation that would restrict citizens' right to vote.... Bus tours were instrumental in the fight for voting rights during the civil rights movement. They know no shame

Make sure you check out this part of the report, showing how much funding states have lost based on their higher ed student population. Hardest hit states include South Dakota, Idaho, Montana, South Carolina. This isn't about "wokeness" or "DEI" its about attacking higher education and science

The FBI has now arrested a judge who would not allow ICE to detain someone WITHOUT DUE PROCESS. That is what she was arrested for. ICE did not have a warrant and she would not allow them to kidnap someone for her chambers. That’s her “crime.” This is a first, not a last…

Trump Admin: I don’t like Harvard’s politics or beliefs so I’m gonna have the IRS revoke their nonprofit status.

JD Vance: “If the IRS can go after you because of what you think, or what you believe, or what you do, we no longer live in a free country.”

Is the free country in the room with us 👀

Before passing the SAVE Act last week, House GOP rejected an amendment that would have allowed for digital copies of citizenship docs, likely saving online voter reg. They really doubled down and said we’re gonna force rural Americans to drive hours just to update their voter reg info. #HandsOff

And follow up on why you must go in person, why no matter how you cut it, the bill is a poll tax, and why it’s going to be harder for all citizens, even if they have the required documents, to register to vote.

We can also hear from Republicans that they don’t even care enough to make the use of marriage certificates explicit for women to use…Since they are not explicitly mentioned and states can just do whatever…
April 11, 2025 at 1:56 AM
And don’t worry because I’ve been itching to use this video of Republicans saying they don’t even think that marriage certificates should be explicitly mentioned in the bill as a way for married women to prove their identity. Sooo

Yes, because the sponsor of the bill is the most affirmative source for how it’s actually going to impact Americans 🤔 but lets let him contradict exactly what he wrote in there… that Americans could use their REAL ID to register to vote. Because now he’s finally admitting that they can’t….
April 11, 2025 at 1:49 AM
But so glad you mentioned Chip Roy, because here’s a video of him admitting the entire REAL ID portion of the bill is unworkable because the vast majority of Americans’ REAL IDs do not indicate their citizenship status, which is what the bill requires…

A House vote on the SAVE Act is imminent. If enacted, 69 MILLION married women would have a much harder time registering to vote bc their name doesn’t match their birth certificate. It shouldn’t be harder for women to vote than to their husbands…why do we even have to say that #HandsOffHerVote

Join me at 2:00pm today for a Reddit AMA on r/politics to talk about the SAVE Act and Trump’s unconstitutional executive order on voting!

The SAVE Act & Trump’s unconstitutional EO say voters could use REAL ID….as long as it indicates citizenship status. Only problem is — the vast majority REAL IDs don’t do this.

Don’t take my word for it — listen to Rep. Roy, the sponsor of the bill admit this provision is currently unworkable.

In one hour, the House Rules Committee will consider changes to the SAVE Act. Let’s be clear that at its core, the bill requires American citizens to show citizenship documents, in person, that millions do not have. Therefore it will continue to deny the constitutional right to vote to citizens.

More on Trump’s unconstitutional voting EO yesterday that would essentially allow only citizens who travel internally, aka who have a passport, to vote. 146 million Americans don’t have a passport & it’s red + rural states where passport ownership is low. In WV 80% of citizens DON’T have a passport.

If the SAVE Act becomes law, here is just one of the ridiculous drives some rural Americans would have to make in order to show documentation to register to vote. 8 hours round trip and crossing into two other states to get to their county election office. Colorado City has a population of 2,500!
