PROTECT THE NHS. SAVE LIVES. RIDE BIKES.
Fewer cars not newer cars!
A Moulton and Brompton riding linux-loving cyclist geek. Cos small wheeled bikes rock!
Currently sat in A&E and it's rammed.
Despite signs telling people to wear masks only about 50% are. 🤬

A Christmas pressie to perform some guerrilla infrastructure modifications?

Waiting at the freeman hospital and found another cycle route that was an old waggonway tucked away.
I didn't even know about this and must get across and explore it one day.
Looks quite decent apart from some horrid old chance barriers.

I've submitted a response.
If you haven't yet, then Laura has put together this excellent guidance on doing so.

Bill Bryson's A short history of everything has just been updated and is a very good read.
This way up is another really good nerdy book about maps and mistakes.

I had a slight whoopsie on this morning's ride when the front wheel lost an argument with a stray wet leaf when braking. Ok apart from a ripped gloves (always wear gloves kids). The new @igpsport computer's screen protector took one for the team though. Grateful for it and the silicone cover..

This you?

So I've now unboxed and setup the new cycle computer which is an IGPsport BiNavi. Not had chance to ride with it yet.
I'll write up a review in a few days.

Yet neither is as hard as northern hills. Johnny Helms knew.

I love this old rail bridge near me which crossed an old farm track. The line and colliery it served are long gone.
Few seem to know it's there and fewer. It's a lovely quiet corner of Tyneside

On bromptons, probably not many. In 2 years I've only had one puncture and that was a drawing pin. They come with robust tyres as standard.

On my ride this morning, I came across this parked car almost completely blocking NCN14. I just just about managed to scrape by. On the drivers side is a really busy trunk road with oncoming traffic.
Utterly thoughtless. I must start carrying a hammer or similar.

The chances I have had for cycling have really reduced over the last few months. The darker mornings and autumn haven't helped either.
Going to force myself to get up and out for a few miles every morning I can.
Had to say hello to these fine people this morning though.

All you Brompton peeps already know about stashing a tube up your brompton's hole yea?
A tip is to use cling film to keep it together and clean. You can also keep a couple of flat (schwable work well) tyre levers there too.
A bit of string or old inner tube over the valve make it easier to retrieve.

I had completely forgotten that there is a half decent segregated cycleway under the few mm of snow this morning. I was walking, not cycling because it was so sketchy. I have used it in the past and in decent weather it's quite usable.

Just also spotted this on streetview. Gateshead again. They're great aren't they?
November 20, 2025 at 11:35 AM
Would that be this sign by any chance?
Gateshead do like their signs. some of their cycleways may be garbage, but they are heavily signed garbage

See this poster I spotted this morning. Classic.

Motonormativity in action.
Free car parking, but accessible by bus and metro. No sign of non car users getting anything though.

One for @showmeasign.online some ridiculously long cycle network signage, but they still couldn't increase the font size.

I'm not seeing any Moulton in there, but it's wonderfully bonkers regardless.
Ideal for Karl on his long Audax events perhaps.
