A few quotes from Carter on international affairs. On US's role in the world:

"I would like to see our country be the champion of human rights and every American embassy looked upon as a haven for anyone who suffers from human rights abuse. I'd like our country to be the most generous on Earth."
NEW: Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, has died at the age of 100.

He was elected in the 1976 presidential election for a single term. He enjoyed a remarkable post-presidency, based on philanthropy. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.

Delighted that my latest piece for @inews.co.uk is the ‘most popular’ yarn on the site. It’s a people power story about the frustrated West Country commuters who are taking on rail giants to run trains for themselves:

Fed up of being neglected by GWR's timetable the West Country residents behind Go-op plan to offer their communities a better rail service

I had a surprisingly good time with some plane-spotters last weekend when I could have been at home eating eggs in my dressing gown. I wrote about the preconception-shattering experience - and the eccentrics I met at #Heathrow - here: www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/news/...
My day at London’s secret plane-spotting paradise
On a dismal December morning, I found it oddly hard to leave Hounslow

“This is a watershed event in the history of international justice. The ICC has never, in over 21 years, indicted a pro-Western official. Indeed, no international court since World War II has done so."

Our story on the ICC warrant just issued for Netanyahu:

The court rejected arguments by the U.S. and Israel that the ICC does not have jurisdiction, subjecting the officials to potential arrest in 124 countries

Delighted to get a splash in The i Paper this weekend about 'sponge cities'. Places like #Rotterdam (and, closer to home, #Mansfield) are embracing nature-based architecture to fend off flooding. It not only looks pretty but makes us feel better, too. inews.co.uk/news/world/s...
