Hey, 30 yo here (she/her in the closet mtf) with a passion for gardening. Decided finally to see how well this hobby fits on the social media scene.

Probably going to spend a lot of my posts just updating yall on the garden's progression outside~
🤔 interesting idea. My microwave is smaller than the oven but I'll keep that method in mind

That looks tasty!

My oven doesn't have a proof setting unfortunately but thats ok

Yeah I can't remember what the lowest my oven allows but its honestly too much. The steam also keeps things from drying and crusting~

Update: the rolls and stuffing is complete now ❤️

It works without fail for me!

I tend to put a large skillet full of water on the stove top first and let that heat up (med-high) in the background while I work on the actual dough recipe

By the time the dough is ready to proof the pan is boiling and I put the water in the bottom of the oven

The oven light was on because the door was open

....or I can break a glass over a towel and now have to deal with this mess 🙃

All of which are gluten free ingredients btw

Do you use pre-shredded cheese or do you shred your own?
November 27, 2025 at 5:44 AM
That sounds really interesting with the crust! Sometimes I throw some shredded cheese into my white bread recipe to mix things up in the same fashion haha~

I might make an apple pie for Christmas. The canned filling is nice but I want to find a recipe for making it from scratch~

I do need to setup the no-bake cheesecake tonight, gluten-free yeast rolls and stuffing

Happy Thanksgiving! Those pies look so lovely!

I've always enjoyed baking sweets and pastries and things~

I can't cook meals to save my life though haha

Cooking is an art, and I'm a nerd not an artist

And Baking is a SCIENCE~~~ xD

Haven't had any soggy crust issues yet. The bottom holds together well too

The most.. struggle.. so far has been with pockets of shortening melting between my fingers while I'm trying to crimp the edges of the crust and making spots "wet"

(It's a repost of older photos, I know, I'm sorry lol)

☺️ thank you~

Gosh everyone's been so nice about how the pies came out today!

...what if I told yall that this was only the 5th attempt ~ever~ at making pie crusts from scratch 👀 🤫
November 26, 2025 at 8:03 PM
Again thank you very much~ ❤️

I might chill on pies for a month or two after the holidays but will always make one once in a blue moon. Pies are just too good
November 26, 2025 at 5:53 PM
Are you sure you haven't met me before? Sounds like you know me from experience already 🤣

And you are very welcome to be reminded! Pies are an important and delicious part of the holidays!!
November 26, 2025 at 4:39 PM
That depends on the person

I saved 22 of those onions inside during the summer months (dried and cured) and in late Sept or early Oct replanted them. Goal is flowers in spring and seeds haha

Look at them now ❤️
November 26, 2025 at 4:06 PM
Thank you very much! They are going onto the Thanksgiving table (when desserts roll out) for us and my mom and sisters.

Small group but all the more reason to make the pies as perfect as possible I think haha
