I love pre codes and Jane Fonda
I watched this on Kanopy a while ago and loved it. It's impressively charming and sweet while tackling the subject of abortion.

Shout out to the woman who runs The Gallery of Anna May Wong Youtube channel which makes so many of her films accessible that wouldn't be otherwise

I think his most creative edit in the series was 1929's Man With a Movie Camera which he paired with music that shared the process of being made, including an unfinished recording of the Beatles Maxwell's Silver Hammer.

He also edited Anna May Wong's 1929 Film Piccadilly with a hip-hop heavy soundtrack.

Oh for sure about don't worry darling. I actually like it mostly. Its just that in comparing them, it feels like an example of how feminism in film has progressed and regressed

I love the Ira Levin book. Since the 1970s film, I have found the most interesting iteration to be Get Out.

I had high hopes for Don't Worry Darling but didn't think it modernized the concept or even managed to be as progressive as the book.

I was also moved by the father daughter relationship in Merrily We Go to Hell. He tells her honestly that he doesn't like her being treated poorly, and he makes it clear that he'll always be there for her.
