It’s great to look back at The Chase as you can really see the behaviour of an adoptee here with Hartnell’s Doctor, him lashing out at Ian & Barbara for wanting to leave, you can see that it deeply hurt him, which is of course a huge sign of childhood attachment severance/disruption.

Chibnall is right, & to back him up as an adoptee too, it’s common for adoptees to have attachment difficulties, to form & sustain relationships, to have a fear of abandonment, & a need to feel wanted/a sense of belonging, which fits with the Doctor’s historical (1963-2017) behaviour perfectly.
