The new Pope is from Dolton is not a sentence that I would ever expect to write. Wow. Crazy.

Bears matriarch Virginia McCaskey died today at the age of 102. From the family: “While we are sad, we are comforted knowing Virginia Halas McCaskey lived a long, full, faith-filled life and is now with the love of her life on earth."

These tariff games are stupid. Trump plays short games while the rest of the world plays long ones. He's going to burn so many bridges that the rest of the world will just move on to doing business without the US. Easier than dealing with someone who pull the trigger on using leverage at every turn

Get your kids vaccinated ASAP. Get your COVID vaccines if you are on that path. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Going 5 months without alcohol again to start this year. The tough part is getting used to not having the crutch. But I'm finding it easier than last year.

Rest in peace Garth Hudson. The Band is now gone. That generation is leaving us rather quickly now.

Two Chicago Bears observations that after last night:
1. Caleb Williams can do big things with a better offensive line
2. Washington doesn't seem to miss Montez Sweat as much as we all thought they would

How Eberflues is still employed by the Chicago Bears this morning is beyond me. What a terrible organization.

Want to listen to more jazz but don't know where to start? This is a pretty good jumping off point.

I remind myself 'slow is smooth, smooth is fast' often. It calms my brain and centers my thinking. It's cliche to call it a life hack. It feels more like I'm using my brain in the way it was intended.

Robert Palmer is the Grateful Dead of blue-eyed soul. Many of his greatest songs are covers but better than the originals.

I Didn't Mean to Turn You On - (play this song now if you have a second) - is a JAM. But alas, it's a cover. Sailin' Shoes, Sneaking Sally, Hey Julia ... all covers.

Eric Clapton seems to be a very polarizing figure on social media. People calibrate his value as an artist by who he is as a person. Much of his guitar work is brilliant and transformative. His songwriting is, credit to Almost Famous, incendiary.

Thomas Brown is not the answer for the Chicago Bears. Nor is Poles. Warren may be ... although he seems to be mishandling this stadium issue.

The answer is selling the team to an ownership group that cares more about winning football games then they do about their historical standing in League.

Glad to have escaped the mess of Twitter to more easily find interesting reads like this. If I'm ever close enough to even see a polar bear, no matter what distance, I'm in the wrong spot.

This might be my favorite Grateful Dead show.

The Funiculi Funicula start. The 15 minute Sugaree. The Estimated>Eyes>Wharf>Terrapin>Dew closer. Incredible.
