Its not just the queerness, I think, though that’s part of it. It’s also just that the Very Online dynamics and the complicated relationships between fursona and identity have a way of exposing the non-monogamous parts of the brain, and making room to express them in healthy ways.

I'm writing to let you know that I plan to stop using Itch.io as a service, effective immediately. This is a response to your recent decision to de-list adult, and especially LGBT, content. As history has shown us, bans on adult content are almost immediately turned to the enforcement of heteronormative social patterns; gay, trans, and queer content is treated as 'not worksafe' regardless of how those stories are presented. We see this already, in the number of LGBT games you have already de-listed despite not otherwise having objectionable content. And we know why, too. Listen, nobody goes to work at Itch.io because they hate letting creators share their games. I understand the pressure you're under, from activist groups, from payment processors. I'm sure it seems reasonable to compromise just this once. I'm sure there's a conference room somewhere where you're convincing yourself that it's better to make sure the remaining 90% of your content still finds its audience, even if you have to do the distasteful thing. But "just this once" never really seems to stop at one, does it? The more you give in to them, the more they'll demand; the more they demand, the more you'll give. I don't want to be part of a system that lets these assholes win, and so I won't be joining you in that system. I wish there was some obvious next step that I could use to make some kind of legible financial threat that would make sense to your shareholders, other than just denying you my custom. One thing I can say is that you have absolutely no tools, none whatsoever, to prevent this from happening to you over and over again. But then, those shareholders don't seem to be all that good at taking the long view, do they? Maybe this, then- enshittification of services only works if the customer base is locked in. Before you take steps to deliberately become a worse version of yourselves, ask yourself: How strong, exactly, do you think your customer lock-in is? How easy will it be,…

The most beautiful crater on Mars is this one from HiRISE Image ID ESP_057152_0985. The way it punched through the thin layer of surface ice, making beautiful wings against a stark white background; the way the burst of wind from the impact cleaned and scoured the ice. Perfection.

About ready to plunge into the Tosca X-Doggo lifestyle, I think. Lots of customization and patterning to be done yet, but changing the eyes + color palette of the base model already has this body feeling good and right for me. Among other feelings ;3
