The UK media is overstating the benefits of prostate specific antigen tests, which can result in risk without benefit.

Men need fair information about screening for prostate cancer, writes @mgtmccartney.bsky.social

This “Ask Ethan” interview is a long read but worth it, debunking the lab leaks”theory” of the origins of SARS-COV2. Deeply worrying about Chinese wet markets and culture of secrecy but also self-serving American conspiracy theorists and anti-science culture. bigthink.com/starts-with-...
Ask Ethan: Couldn't COVID-19 have originated in a Chinese lab?
In theory, scientists could've produced a deadly virus that accidentally infected lab workers. In practice, we know that didn't happen.

Good to hear @trishgreenhalgh.bsky.social on BBC R4 Today talking about the lack of evidence for safety or cost effectiveness of physician associate and anaesthetic associate roles.

It is quite quite mad that NHS England and the GMC went all in on these roles, particularly in GP surgeries, with so little evidence that it would be either safe or cost effective
8/11 🔄 While some roles may be found for PAs in the NHS, it’s not yet clear what they are. We seem to have a "solution" in search of a problem. But NHSE & GMC, having created this situation, have a responsibility to those affected, especially PAs & AAs who embarked on these jobs in good faith.

Patient safety must come first & the roll-out of these “associate” roles stopped pending a definition of safe scope of practise
