Feels notable that a bunch of people who have spent a majority of their waking hours on twitter/X for the past decade are suddenly whining more about bluesky. Even Glenn here who has apparently never actually looked at it to see what the average user here thinks of the DNC & Dem members of Congress

President Trump's crusade against D.C.’s homelessness fails to solve some of its deepest struggles: There are not enough services, subsidies or beds to house the thousands of adults and children in the District without permanent housing. https://wapo.st/4mP0xTF

More executives fail to negotiate deals to make their games profitable & cut corners to make up for their ineptitude, punishing their staff for caring. This is a trend in the industry. We are approaching a time where it’s safe to ignore big studio output

NEW: Trump recently pardoned a Virginia sheriff who was convicted of bribery and let donors dodge gun laws and traffic tickets. It's another move by the Trump administration to reward political loyalty at the expense of public trust, @jesspish.bsky.social writes.

Certainly do not dismiss the chaos and consequence of what’s happening in the Middle East right now, nor the Trump administrations inability to manage it. But you can safely ignore the WW3 fear mongering by people who haven’t even done as much as read a RAND report.

The cost of a coordinated, direct attack by Russia and China against the U.S. would be catastrophic for them. There’s always a non-zero chance some kind of attack could happen, but it’s extremely unlikely. Minor skirmishes in the Middle East and cyberattacks are what you can reasonably expect.

Even with disarmament, the U.S. maintains the most advanced and modernized nuclear triad in the world. Conflict in the Middle East is a flashpoint for sure, but there’s no indication that it’s a precursor to global war. The main risk is the expansion of the war regionally.

Any large scale global conflict is likely to consist of the usual proxy wars, which may or may not involve U.S. troops. But the bulk of any interstate conflict between the U.S. and other superpowers will be fought behind computer screens. (2/2)

There’s a ton of fear-mongering about WW3 from people who have no sense of what interstate war would look like in 2025, nor do they understand the nuclear defense and delivery capabilities of the U.S. vs the rest of the world. (1/2)

The Trump administration's biggest accomplishment is making the Middle East less secure for both Arab states and Israel. By all indications, that was their goal. And they have succeeded.

It's also worth noting that Trump's dismissal of the JCPOA as "a bad deal" despite its unprecedented access to Iran's nuclear facilities for not only the IAEA, but U.S. intelligence, is an even more brain dead decision in light of this situation.

Trump's Middle East track record should have disqualified any self proclaimed anti-war voter from supporting him. Foreign policy decisions is the majority of a president's job, and Trump, nor the team he has assembled, is capable of anything other than escalating the situation. (2/2)

Trump supporters upset at the Iran-Israel situation because they consider themselves anti-war voters: "this is not what we voted for." It's not what they wanted, but it is absolutely what they voted for. Trump is so inept at foreign policy, this was inevitable (1/2)

There’s no question that President Trump’s proposal to stop taxing tips has broad appeal. But the effect of the policy would actually be quite narrow. Here’s who would benefit under their plan — and who wouldn’t.
