From the national broadcaster to individual social media users, we can’t be too vigilant about the risk of misleading our audiences. Full Fact urges the BBC board to remember that owning up to mistakes is only half the story—correcting the record quickly and transparently is absolutely critical to earning back people’s trust.

Google has announced that it is de-prioritising fact checks.

This means reliable fact checks from credible organisations might get buried deeper in your search results.

Google’s decision to de-prioritise fact checks will make it harder for users to access accurate information designed to help them make informed choices. It’s a disappointing decision from a company that has until very recently been a global fact checking champion.

What it actually shows is a joint military exercise by China and Egypt, called “Eagles of Civilisation 2025” which took place from 19 April to 4 May.
