Ooooh is your internet broken. Did someone's immaterial web of financial speculation and surveillance turn out to have a failure point in material infrastructure

I may be a bit late to the boat-hype-train, but Niri is amazingly good. It does exactly what I want it to do all the time. Also, scrollable is a better metaphor than tiling.

I want to announce I've just bought one my paintings for 1 Trillion Dollars using one of my games as exchange. I am, as of today, the best payed artist and game developer in the history of mankind.

This is turning out really amazing! :)
Playing around with how CSS corner-shape (squircles and friends) is going to end up looking like: noamr.github.io/squircle-tes...

Fleshed out a lot of details, it's coming along!
(Note that overlaps don't work yet in the proto but a lot of other things do)

Thanks

softpower is more sustainable and stronger than hardpower. Giving up all your softpower so you can feel the hardpower is not only a sign of extreme insecurity but is deeply stupid.

You may ask yourself what could be worse than giving up 80 years of US softpower because of a non-existent trade deficit?

So here's your answer: giving it up to feed your narcissistic ego-trip of "strong negotiator".

This was the biggest loss of power we have experienced in our lifetime. Uncanny.

The thing people don't get about the Infinite Monkey Theorem (a monkey with infinite time will eventually type Shakespeare's work), is that the reverse is also true.

Given infinite monkeys, one of them will sit down and start typing Shakespeare right away.

In fact, this has already happened.

Ecology without class struggle is just gardening.

Climate change without class struggle is just meteorology.

They could be building museums, modern cathedrals. They could be the new Medicis. They could be developing a new modernity.

But instead, we get this MMA golden-chained Ketamine-induced influencer shallow bro-ism.

Misery has many forms.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle suffers from the AAA plague. There is a great game there, diluted in the middle of garbage filler.

Everything that happens after China weakens it: embarrassingly bad puzzles, bad story, underdeveloped locations.

AAAs: a shorter game would have been better.

I got a live a version of this explanation a few months ago.

And I left in awe of how much Lea thought about this and the UX crafting that make tons of difference in how users respond to surveys.
🚀 [Case study] Context Chips in Survey Design: “Okay, but how does it feel?”

This is about one of the novel UIs I designed when leading #StateOfHTML 2023 — the one I’m most proud of. 💙

Been meaning to write this for over a year, finally found time during this break!

The story of how a weird little UI to collect sentiment alongside survey responses defied constraints and triumphed over skepticism through usability testing.

It is melancholic when the best public policy a government can think of is "let's cut the sales tax on video games".

The public sphere in its Turin Horse days. The darkness creeping in. The slow starving demise.

Not worth of anything.

In US politics, nobody is able to talk outside of the schismogenesis anymore. Being the only conversation available, every speech can only be contextualized as part of it.

There are no issues anymore, only sides.

For those who may still wonder why some of us insist on calling it the “criminal LEGAL system,” not “justice.”

DAs pressure a man to plead guilty to a rape they already KNEW HE DID NOT COMMIT, withholding the DNA they KNEW exonerated him.

13 YEARS in prison. My GOD.
