Would @Morning_Joe kindly stop taking all credit for balanced budgets when he was in the House? Clinton's 1993 tax increase -- which Joe demagogued as the "largest tax hike in American history" -- played a huge role, as did a booming economy.

Today's real story: Dow down 800 due to Trump's irresponsible tax cut-spending bill. Trump diverts attention by abusing South African president. Media falls for it.

The Tariff Target on Roses Makes Zero Sense, by Froma Harrop
May is usually the best month for florists, Mother's Day being a big reason. But Donald Trump's tariff war is raining pain on their bestselling season.

That's true, but Trump's attacks on due process (not coincidentally for a Latino immigrant), however serious, are part of his bigger efforts to take the focus off the crashing economy.

The week was dominated by news about the Maryland man illegally deported to El Salvador. But there was also concern over tariffs and Robert F. Kennedy's work as Health and Human Services secretary.

Musk tweets that the level of propaganda at elite universities "would make North Korea jealous." He hasn't disclosed that at least one of his kids currently goes to Brown University -- the most fashionably left of the bunch.

Has it occurred to some of you that Trump's on-again, off-again tariff war is part of an insider trading scheme? Before he announces a pause, which inevitably causes stocks to rise, he and friends buy stock. Before he announces a resumption, which leads to sharp price drops, they sell.

Thanks. I find identity politics troubling. One could say Jim Crow was identity politics of the most perverse kind
I like about 90% of what you write (and I'm a liberal Democrat), but I have a question. You wrote, "Those diversity, equity, and inclusion policies will not be missed by many of us... " What about DEI do you dislike? Jim Crow laws were the antithesis of DEI.

The U.S. government buying bitcoin at inflated prices would do nothing to pay off America’s debt.

Does this apply to the US? The US defense budget is $824 billion. That’s about 3.1% of GDP. To get to 5% of GDP would mean another $500 billion in defense spending. Is Trump going to propose that and where will the money come from? Or is 5% only for other countries? www.politico.eu/article/dona...
