BREAKING: Following our petition & lawsuits, USFWS has proposed designating 760K acres of critical habitat for foothill yellow-legged frogs. That means the most important rivers, creeks, and adjacent areas where they live will get protections. 🎉

Frogs! I like these guys. There are always lots of them in my yard so, I can get good reference photos. The top one is a pickerel frog and the bottom one is a wood frog. I've seen some really interesting color variations on the wood frogs. Might have to paint a series...

Look at this fat froggo, isn’t he plump!? Jumps extra far this one. Anyway enough silliness; this piece has its big reveal tomorrow through Arch Enemy Arts gallery for the Miami Art Fair. Thrilled to have brought this piece back to life (I had to remake it after Fedex lost her).

Frog taxi. A group of volunteers in Portland Oregon formed the “Harborton Frog Shuttle” to help Northern red-legged frogs cross dangerous US highway 30. The frogs migrate across the highway to spawn and lay eggs in the Harborton wetland habitat during the winter.

The Hairy Frog illustration from "The Biology of the Amphibia" G. Kingsley Noble (1931).

Noble suggests that the hairs could improve their respiration. Other researchers believe they could used to protect them from aggression from other male frogs (Barej et al 2010).

Positive frog news.

Yellow-legged frogs in Yosemite lakes are recovering after being decimated by introduced stock fish and chytrid fungus.

Scientists found a group of fungus resistant frogs and reintroduced them into the lakes where they once lived.
