I’ve seen some conversations about TikTok and what’ll happen in publishing if the ban actually happens. I’m just some lady, but I think booktok peaked months ago. Publishing is 12-36 months behind your FYP. And while there was a boom it created a specific quality problem.

AND ONE MORE THING! TikTok has made the front list market push worse. Content creators are so focused on new releases there’s no space for backlists which also equal sales for everyone. You can make content about older books, but almost no one does. It’s Arcs and newest releases only.

TikTok as a platform for influencers is separate from TikTok as a platform for a variety of products. Like the racism aside, TikTok basically helped create a contemp focused market which for adult romance is a bummer. We need paranormal and historical.
