I wish people would stop flattening social media to the worst it has to offer. It's just a tool. Yes, it's one that is often used very badly, but it has also connected and educated and made life better for countless millions in countless ways.

If you have said, "Get off social media and do XYZ," ok - what are people supposed to do when they get off social media & how are they supposed to learn if they don't know? Ask in their homogenous cul-de-sac?

Offline & online work should happen as hand in glove, or at least left hand & right hand.

If you don't find social media useful, go outside with a megaphone & a sandwich board and try your luck.

Snark aside, please just think about how difficult it must have been to be a journalist back then, or even just someone who cared to know the truth. It's a different world now, & that matters.
