Weltweit geraten Grundrechte unter Druck. In Deutschland, in Europa, in den USA.

⚠️ Die Frage lautet nicht mehr, ob die Demokratie verteidigt werden muss – sondern wie.

Just stumbled over this gem...

My rational self knows that the world has been and always will be complex, brutal, and ugly to some degree in many places. But to my heart, this really captures "easier times".

While much of the commentary on the ICJ’s climate advisory opinion rightly focuses on its legal conclusions, my latest blog post takes a different approach. I read the opinion as an act of institutional self-presentation: a moment where the Court constructs its own role in the international order.
The ICJ's climate advisory opinion is more than just a ruling on state obligations; it is also an act of institutional self-presentation.

For the first time, CIR has uncovered the location of a Sudanese RSF military camp in the desert of Sudan’s neighbour, Libya.

It is directly linked to the war in Sudan.

We will show you where, we will show you how.

Unelected. Unapologetic. Uncompromising.
Andriy Yermak is not Ukraine’s president. But he often acts like one. He handpicks government officials—and dismisses them. The prime minister and military brass frequently defer to him.

And I will repeat this: There was an agreement last Monday that even Hijri agreed to (under pressure from mainstream Druze factions). It was the IDF bombing and then “backing” Hijri in hope of the chaos of ensuring a fragmented south Syria that led to this.

Interesting wrinkle:
Lithuania withdrew its reservation to the compromissory clause in Art. 20 (2) in 2023, i.e., after the situation at the border had already arisen. (treaties.un.org/pages/ViewDe...)
Belarus reacted with an interpretative declaration that... (1/5)

Then I received an email that the editors can't publish the paper unless I "remove the case study/examples of the United States" (1/x)

As the situation escalates in Israel-Palestine, misinformation is rife. It can be difficult to decipher what is really happening and what is not. Our team has gathered examples of misrepresented footage and imagery from the latest conflict, helping you tell facts from fiction

Videos supposedly from the latest escalation of the conflict are actually years old, from the wrong country or don’t depict a warzone at all.

We're aware of a fake BBC video circulating on social media falsely claiming that Bellingcat has verified Ukrainian weapons sales to Hamas. We've reached no such conclusions or made any such claims. We'd like to stress that this is a fabrication and should be treated accordingly.
