This is the Drunk Lady of the Heynesbók manuscript (16th century book of law). We can pretty much assume she's drunk because directly below her, it says: "Now I cannot drink any longer."

I wish you a happy New Year and the wisdom of the Drunk Lady of Heynesbók who knows her limit.

quite possibly the funniest thing about this whole FDP political scandal is the fact germans apparently cannot make good powerpoint presentations. this is exactly what nearly all of my university lectures look like. is this cultural? are germans allergic to serif fonts?

Yesterday I got to lay eyes on the one and only Codex Regius Poetic Edda.

This little book is by far the most valuable book in Iceland, and arguably for the whole of Northern Europe. It was written during the 1270s and it is the sole source of so much that we know about Norse Mythology.

What with all the fibreoptic Internet cables on the sea floor I really think it's sad we don't have a film where a shark bites into one and accidentally uploads itself onto the web and starts eatimg people through their computers. It would be called WWW, vertically mirrored so it's like teeth.
