Received an extraordinary letter from the British Red Cross today (see image) about the domestic policy of a British Labour government. I'll bet they didn't foresee having to write this. It appears we have to go back as far as Ken Clarke or Roy Jenkins to find a decent liberal Home Secretary.

Not been a member of the Lib Dems for a couple of years but I keep an eye out for what they have to say. Monday/Tuesday were the culmination of their annual conference so I expected to see at least *some* coverage of the UK's largest party. But no! Monday - Farage for 24 hours! #TheTimes

Map of the world, for about 98% of the history of Homo Sapiens Sapiens and in many cases/places until even more recently than that. Then in the last 2% we have become so divided that 1% of us owns more of it than half of the rest. Something went wrong. #respectnoborders

The flag of St Edmund the Martyr, an English king & patron saint before long before a French monarch foisted on us St George as a way of sucking up to another foreign prince. Because it is the flag of the county of Suffolk, we are allowed to fly it just like the St George's cross. #reclaimStEdmund

The Times seems to imply that these are Iranian Revolutionary Guardsmen getting "more oppressive" presumably by emulating their American counterparts!

There's a really simple rule of event planning: if you think it won't be heavily attended don't put out seats because then however many do show up you can press release it as "standing room only"

So do I understand...#labour government is caving into the divisive rhetoric from #reform ranters under #turqouisetaint #nigel by making care at the end of lives of British mainly pensioners harder and by taxing one of our most successful export industries to curb a few thousand temporary visas?

Of course the "system is broken" - it's a feature not a bug of the way things have worked for more or less as long as there have been governments. Here's how to fix it - as explained 150 years ago:

And where did using a private monopoly and army really get started, and whose fault is it that African ex-colonies still need so much help instead of being able to rely on often their own natural wealth to develop? Oh, yeah...The John Company
