Building a future where 2SLGBTQ+ folks have the safety and resources to thrive in Oklahoma and everywhere we call home. www.freedomoklahoma.org
The occupation of stolen land is active, here in Oklahoma and beyond, and it has always been Indigenous Peoples who have always shown us the blueprint for joyous, resilient survival that tears down empires and rejects the colonial project.

Every year, as October begins, we celebrate 2SLGBTQ+ history month. Marsha Pay-It-No-Mind Johnson said, “History isn’t something you look back at and say it was inevitable.

Freedom Oklahoma will continue to do that regardless of where Ryan Walters will be.

We survive, our communities survive, because folks who were considered "too left" fought hard for us to be here today. We must keep that fight in order to survive, especially at a time when our elected officials might not be pulling their political weight.
September 26, 2025 at 6:41 PM
We know how to push back against Walters here, now he's going to union bust nationally. It's time for folks to check in to states, groups, and leaders that might be "too left".
September 26, 2025 at 6:41 PM
There is a lot going on right now and Ryan Walters not being over our students directly is good, in this moment. But where is he going? What does it mean for the state, the nation, for our fight?
September 26, 2025 at 6:40 PM
And politicians sure as hell won't make us believe caring for one another is illegal.

If you haven't checked out the documentary, Las Sandinistas, you should.
September 24, 2025 at 11:02 PM
I don't know about you all, but I'm more of a movie/documentary guy myself.

Do you know your status?

They are places like Guiding Right that will ship you at home testing kits FREE, comes with information that is understandable. and helps you know what your next steps are no matter what your status is.

I don't know about you, but I think HIV prevention is needed. Especially in a place like Oklahoma being Top 10 in the nation for Highest Rural HIV cases.

That money funds our local health departments.

Its National HIV/AIDS & Aging Awareness Day.

Each year about 500,000 people are diagnosed with HIV. Did you know 54% of people living with HIV in the US are over 50 years or older?

Right now the congress is looking to cut well over $2 BILLION in HIV prevention funding.
September 18, 2025 at 6:52 PM
We have already seen some folks attempt to use this tragedy to try and further target transgender people.

These are not just public spaces but spaces that are supposed to be sacred, supposed to be safe. But those in power have traded our safety for their personal political gain.

Beloveds,

Back-to-school ads mixed with articles about how to talk to your children about school shootings. How have we allowed that to be possible?

We are holding Minnesotans close in the wake the mass shooting that took 2 lives and left 17 injured yesterday.

legislation includes retroactivity and sex work decriminalization because your leadership.
August 24, 2025 at 1:26 AM
We get to tackle HIV Decriminalization in a deeply intentional and inclusive way - because we know when we don't bring our people wit us know we often don't get a chance to correct that mistake. Oklahoma's first HIV decrim.
August 24, 2025 at 1:26 AM
This year, let alone the last 4 years, haven't been easy....but boi-o-boi has there been growth.
There has been an intentional shift in action as we began the Peoples Hearings, Digital Support groups, Legislative Trackers and so much more.
August 24, 2025 at 1:25 AM
Cheers to a Deeply Impactful 4 Years, Fitz!

You've been asking us to re-imagine what our work looks like.
Our individual roles, new ways to talk to one another, and what Oklahoma we'd want to live in.

A little while back Councilor Jobeth asked us to come out and table for another round of Tenants Know Your Rights training. It was nice to be in that room learning and sharing knowledge with neighbors.
August 7, 2025 at 6:38 PM
It doesn't matter that folks who don't live here think Oklahoma is affordable, especially if the people who DO live here can't afford it.

Have you hear about the Tenants Know Your Rights training happening tomorrow night? We'll be there!

I'm always grateful to share space with and learn from leaders across the country working towards HIV modernization. It was exciting to see so much of this year's programming be HIV-focused.
