Nothing too complex. Just a fine-looking sword.
No reference, no plan going into it.
And with this, I've completed my goal of making a sword every day of September. :) Not an official Swordtember I guess, but I'm so happy I did this, and I learned a ton!

Penultimate day, and I had time, so I made a very busy sword. I had no plans before today for what I'd do, and I didn't have reference, so I just played through until the sword was done.
I'm pretty satisfied with where my whims took me!

The Fiery Dragon Sword from Guild Wars
Had to go with GW1 over 2 because I can't handle that level of detail yet. And the dragon head was already a stretch! Not to mention dipping back into particles (it's been a bit)
Not perfect, but good and fun!

The Energy Sword from Halo: Combat Evolved
Needed another sword that'd be fairly straightforward (busy, busy day), but trying to replicate an older style and play around with the shader was satisfying! We animating again, too!
Swords do come in all shapes and sizes.

The Chronicle Sword from Dark Cloud
While I planned on doing this one from the start, and hoped to take some time to learn how to properly unwrap and paint the texture... I didn't do that! And it's way off in places.
But MAN was it an interesting (fun) one to make!

This idea was one I already wanted to make before it was requested.
In a recurring theme of things that I did that I make it difficult to notice, the blade-water is animated. I also sculpted the shell-guard!
Needed a relatively quick one for the days ahead!

As if it needs introduction: the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII.
Something I did my best to do justice, but you can hardly see the etching with how I rendered it (the part that easily took me the longest, haha)
But hey! Well worth the effort!

But maybe it also went magic?
While I normally like working on blades, I wanted the blade to be simpler this time around, with more focus on the hilt from what I learned working on other swords, and an attempt to make it more mechanical.
Freeform is fun.

I'm proud of parts of this, but alas, I feel that I lost to it.
Something something about time and fools.
This was a good lesson in global vs local transformation and rotation, along with asymmetrical components.
Also. Time.
Tick-tock. Tick-tock.

It's amazing how much easier this is getting. :)
Like yeah, this one was "simple" today. But I've gotten a lot better at determining my approach. I barely needed to look at the reference. And the shaders were quick and easy.
Glad I've stuck with it so far!

A lovely day with friends, and an Undertale stream to cap it off. I'm honestly not sure how I managed to keep focusing long enough to make this tonight. We can say Determination, but. You know? Sure. We'll go with that. And friendship.
Tired.

Started with what I knew about working with booleans to carve some crystals, then played with emissive, transmissive shaders, and phew! Something that I'm proud of, and it didn't take too long to make, either!
Maybe I'll need to study crystal formations next time!

Like from Dark Souls.
Some days need to be a bit easier. At least, thinking, "hey, I don't have a ton of time for something complex" sometimes results in a lot of focus on small details and shader experimentation anyway!
Went overboard on bump mapping, haha.

The Razor Sword from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
I remember seeing a standee or something as a kid for Majora's Mask before the game was available, and being in awe of the art. The sword Link had was so cool!
Still is, it turns out. Even if it had limited uses.

Excalibur from Sonic and the Black Knight.
Maybe not remembered super fondly, but hey, it had some lovely designs, some incredible music, and some unforgettable moments. Man, Sonic's awesome.
And boy, this sword was almost more than I could handle.

So I took some liberties. Found a theme. Had some fun with it.
My wife is very upset by this, and I can't imagine why.
But it just sorta grows on you, ya know?

This request really tested my mesh-making capabilities. It was a different approach from what I've had to make previously, utilizing branching on a blade that also curves. I also played around with shaders a bit more for the metal components. I hope I did it justice!

Crucially, a gunblade is not the same as a sword-gun. A gunblade does not shoot a projectile. Where a gunblade does not require an open barrel, a sword-gun does.
I had a LOT of fun making this, even though I (clearly) know little about gun design.

I got to learn about dual oxtail sabers! Unlike how some paired swords are basically the same sword twice, these are made to fit into the same sheath, and end up as two halves of one whole. I had a lot of fun!

I had a lot of fun devising this one! I was given a very fun bit of information to work with and play around with, not to mention figuring out the execution. The air bubbles were a lot of fun to figure out.

Home Depot Katana.
I actually spent more time than I'd care to admit trying to figure out how to texture the details of the original listing, and couldn't figure much of it out within my time constraints.
But in the end, we're still left with a cheap katana.

Himmel the Hero's sword from Sousou no Frieren
Some days I need "easier" swords (like today, haha). I've given myself a number of constraints, and some days are just busier than others, but I still need to make a new sword a day. So far so good!

So after doing this for a week, writing the way I was writing is untenable, haha.
This is Yuito's sword, "Firefly", from Scarlet Nexus
Day 3: Old Nail from Hollow Knight
Day 5: Nameless Blade from NieR
Day 6: Longsword from FFX
Day 7: Kanshou and Bakuya from Fate/stay night

Can an imitation only ever be a fake? Or can an imitation equal or even surpass a masterwork? When put to the test, even an imitation can have its worth.
