I love being ‘woke’. It’s much nicer than being an ignorant fucking twat.

It's the Alarm Clocks init, they wake you up from your slumber. 😎

Why?

1. Being inconsiderate / selfish is an aspect of your character. They'll behave in this way no matter if the drive / cycle.

2. Behavior is often a product of the environment. The only reason for one way streets is to accommodate cars. Car first cities are generally poor for accessability.

I always turn the volume off for the news / skip past.

BBC Radio should take a leaf from National French Radio / FIP.

Their app has many different music stations. Non stop music, no adverts, no chatter, no news.

I listen to French music radio more than BBC these days, for this reason.

Thoughts and prayers to folks who live alone in £2 million properties, mortgage free.

The prospect of your council tax increasing from ~£3k to ~£5.5k in 2028 must be such a worry.

Ah, with his concern for cyclists he welcomed how the congestion charge has reduced traffic on the pain?

Surely, he must have welcomed how LTNs have introduced a family friend low traffic network in East Oxford?

No, thought not.

I wonder if this is a sweetener to soften the blow of an announcement that fuel fuel duty will be going up.

I've no idea if that's on the cards, but it makes sense to me.

Yeah, but if you want Wasabi Seaweed you'll need to import them from Korea😎.

Of course, @oxfordclarion.bsky.social, I do think you missed a trick with not giving an honourable mention to Oriel’s Grade I listed cat flap

Hence, at least to me, it makes no sense to give nearly £4k subsidy to buy a new car, while also removing incentives to reduce car use
November 21, 2025 at 2:09 PM
I think that you are overlooking just how carbon intensive car infrastructure is.

Not forgetting the carbon cost of manufacturing an EV car, vs an EV bike / cargo bike.

Subsidies given exclusively to driving instead of much, much more efficient alternatives makes little sense to me.

Admittedly I didn't ask everyone on the bus into Oxford on Sunday.

But the couple next to us were delighted that the bus was on time, and that there wasn't the typical delay of 20 minutes on the Abingdon Road.

20 minutes stuck in traffic everyday is a waste of time. The cc, less so

Maybe they could provide evidence of increased congestion and an uptick in pollution?

Fish are most definitely sentiment. They show pain avoidance behavior. They show fear of pain. Drugs reduce pain responses.

Who knows about their pain experience? Eg humans rationalize pain, and take comfort in knowing it will subside.

In other animals a moment of pain might feel like a lifetime.

An overall decline, and it seems the CC has done what it was meant to do.

But chatting with a friend, traffic has increased on a few streets

You can be sure that the entire focus of Oxford's miserabilists will be on an extra minute or two at some junction.

20 minutes saving elsewhere is ignored.

This finding puts the £3,700 grant to buy a new electric car into sharp focus.

Why not provide similar incentives to switch from driving? Next to cars, bikes are massively less resource intensive to manufacture and run.

Likewise for the supporting infrastructure, roads vs cycle routes.

True, but Heineken is the best, as I went to university in Amsterdam, and it has many positive associations.

My guess is that their thing is good food that happens to be vegan, and not being a vegan restaurant, if you know what I mean?

Either way, they do great food and the service is always really friendly.

And, yes. The menu is entirely vegan.

Screenshot shot for context.

Looking at your posts, to me it seems like your straw man arguments are the reason for people blocked you.

It's not for any views that you expressed
November 10, 2025 at 3:31 PM
I dont mind roads or drivers, but the idea that a car is a complete substitute for a bike is ridiculous.

😜

It's from your post that I know the headline to be complete nonsense, and hence the screenshot instead of the link.

I value local journalism, and I've subscribed in the past. But there's no way I'm subscribing to clickbait nonsense.
