Bless the reactionary right, and their semantic grievances.

Their rules:

A fake plastic Christmas Tree must be called a Christmas tree.

A vegetarian burger has absolutely no business being called a burger

And don't get them started on soya milk.
Must be SO exhausting to spend your life seeking out imaginary monsters in Tesco shopping aisles... sorry, CHRISTMAS imaginary monsters.

Exactly this.

*Thinking of buying a new car?

Here you go, here's £3,750 of tax payers money to encourage you to do so. No questions asked. Can we help pay for your charget as well?

*Thinking about buying a new bike?
Maybe an electric cago bike as your family vehicle?

Sorry, not interested.
But yeah, enjoy your £3,750 EV grant for weekend drives… in the Surrey Hills. ☺️

@nathanley.com

It seems that Reach plc have completed their fall from a local newspaper to an clickbait grievance generator.

I'm left wondering if Matt Simpson is an actual journalist, or AI bot tasked with providing the worst possible interpretation of actual events.

For over three years long COVID has had a devastating impact on my wife.

She tried everything, and there's been a slight recovery over the years.

Something remarkable has happened. In her 3 trimester of pregnancy her energy increased.

Now, with a young baby, symptoms have almost entirely gone.

Oxford's car first lobby are so very close to getting it.

You can have trees and 'nice public spaces'

Or

You can have car parking and car first streets.

You can't have both.

It's ironic really.

'Open Roads for Oxford' campaign against traffic filters, and traffic restrictions.

They are using a picture of Broad Street to illustrate an Open Roads.

The reason Broad Street is an Open Road, is entirely due to it's traffic filters and traffic restrictions.

Four days to go for this consultation: letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk/east-st-hele...

If you have a few minutes to respond positively to this scheme which will make it dramatically nicer to walk, wheel, cycle, scoot in my town, I would very much appreciate it

My long video included below

Thank you!
I made a detailed explainer video (with Q&A) for the proposed new junction in Abingdon to prioritise walking, cycling, wheeling, and generally make it a more pleasant town centre

It won't work on the hardcore antis but I couldn't bear the lies going around!

An essential thread that addresses the myths and self deceptions behind common ethical, environmental, or welfare reasons people give to justify their animal protein laced diet.
1. It's fascinating to see, as you can from the responses to the post below, how many daft things people believe, to justify their continued meat eating. So let's examine a few of the common myths in the following thread. 🧵
For years, there's been a massive over-emphasis on food miles, and a massive under-emphasis on food type.
By far and away the best dietary decision you can make, for environmental, humanitarian and public health purposes, is to cut out animal products.

Distribute Oxford Congestion charge permits to everyone in the city.

People holding permits at the end of the year receive compensation for any remaining permits, paid for from charges.

Okay, this has its flaws, but it's a an incentive and compensation to people who are not part of the problem.

Does anyone else go out of their way to avoid shopping in Tesco / Sainsburys?

It pisses me off that you are increasingly pushed to be a card holding member, and data provider to get discounts.

I refuse to show any loyalty to a supermarket. They can fuck off.

An excellent explainer about improvements planned for Abingdon town centre.

Improvements for pedestrian access to Market Square.

The proposed changes also connect the missing link in NCN5, meaning that you'll now be able to cycle along this stretch of the national cycle route!

I love the way that Billy Brag leads Twice to make his claim about sharia courts.

Twice takes the bait, and with the context from Brag, Twice shows himself as the reactionary racist and / or wannabe populist he is.
Richard Tice, "We've already got 80 sharia courts in the UK"

Billy Bragg, "There are also Jewish courts as well, thats part of their religion. We as a tolerant nation accept that"

"To demonise, particularly the Muslims, is the sort of thing we worry about Reform UK"

Over the years I've spent a lot of money in Hoyles

I always have made a point of cycling or taking the bus in, instead of Amazon.

I think she might be misjudging her market. Especially as you can't drive or park anywhere near to her shop.
Emily Scaysbrook, proprietor of Hoyles board game shop on the High: “Not all visitors spend the same amount of money over different modes of transport. Those who drive often do so because they intend to spend. They don’t want to use the bus – as is their right, by the way.”

If preaching "Love all stop hate" is left wing, what's the equivalent right wing sentiment?

Actually, don't answer that.

Compassion shouldn't be a wedge issue, despite the best efforts of click bait media.
The Shropshire Star having a normal one 🙄

Where are the stories saying ‘right-wing activists vandalise mini-roundabouts with red paint’? Nowhere. If you’re one of the few that still takes the Star seriously, maybe it’s time to rethink that position?
