Listening to #Trump. I'm really interested to see how his "External Revenue Service" (to collect tarrifs from foreign countries) is going to work, considering that tarrifs are paid by the importing country......

I normally don't agree with the people they attack #Bono for no real reason, but this is so hypocritical. How can he accept this from a country that is supplying the weapons that is causing genocide? #Palestine

The simple things that make you forget about the pressures of life! I started feeding birds during the first lockdown in 2020. Those sparrows and Finches really kept me sane at the time. #Ireland #wildlife #birdfeeder

4 seats left to full in Cavan Monaghan. Logic would say Tullys transfers would elect Carthy and his surplus would elect Bennett. However, going by how SF transfers went in Donegal, it's far from a foregone conclusion. The 2 remaining FF candidates are very much in the game. #GE24

You have to applaude FF's vote management in some constituencies, especially Donegal, a massive SF strong hold. SF got 32k first preference votes (2.5 quotas), their 3 candidates got 2 seats. FF got 18,316 first preference votes (1.4 quotas), their 3 candidates also got 2 seats. #GE24

Looks like a FF + FG + Ind Alliance government. #GE24
December 2, 2024 at 4:04 AM
Lots of people here unhappy that FF and FG are doing well in the counts, but they are blaming the electorate. I find it baffling. There are reasons your chosen party didn't connect with those people, the blame needs to be placed on the party, not the electorate. #GE24

Dublin Central 18% turnout? It really shows the disconnect between the people there and the Dail. Hutch getting elected as a protest vote? #GE24

Just reading a few non-Irish analyses of the general election exit poll. So to avoid further bunkum, nonsense & balderdash here are some facts.

1. Ireland is a multi-party system.
2. Irish elections are NOT first past the post. They are proportional representation. There are no lists.

This is what is going to shape the next gov, the transfers. FF FG are going to be as transfer friendly as the EU and local elections. Virtually impossible to look past FF and FG holding onto power. #GE24

Flying to Germany in the morning, although I'm very thankful I got to vote, I'm sickened I'm going to miss the count. This is usually me trying to predict transfers. #GE24

Get out and vote in #GE24
November 29, 2024 at 8:50 AM
When the counting for #GE24 gets under way, please remember one thing. The count number which a TD gets elected on is irrelevant. The number is linked to the number of candidates on the ballot not their popularity. e.g. All 4 TDs in Clare were elected on the 10th count in 2020.
November 28, 2024 at 9:30 PM
My #GE24 predictions for what it's worth. FG will get more seats than expected considering their drop in the polls. FF will get the most seats, FG and SF will get a very similar number of seats. SD and Aontu will gain seats. LAB, PBP will drop a few seats, Greens may only be left with 1 or 2 seats.

Just one week from the election count, which means only a week until we are told how a TD isn't popular because they only got elected on the Xth count. We really need to educate people on how PR and the single transferable vote works.
