ALL HAIL THE TOFU KIDS. It's about the time back in 2019, when I was drinking at the Copper Top all day and somehow ended up at a vegan party. I felt like Bob Newhart at a new age convention. Click link

I adore Woodrell. Love his work so much.
Gift article of the NYT Woodrell obit: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/30/o...

In the early 2010s, Esquire described him as “one of American literature’s best-kept secrets,” and The New York Times said that he “writes about violence and dark deeds better than almost anyone in America today.”

I keep seeing posts on the passing of Daniel Woodrell, but I see no mention of it in searches.

If so, RIP, genius. Loved WINTER'S BONE; TOMATO RED; THE OUTLAW ALBUM; BAYOU TRILOGY; GIVE US A KISS.

I mean, I've heard of 'Pretty Boy" Floyd before, who hasn't? But still mighty cool of him.

Some ppl already talking about favorite neo noir Christmas movies

Sure, I LOVE 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.' Love 'Bad Santa,' but I don't consider it in the same vein. It's more a black comedy movie to me.

My fav is this one, based on the excellent Scott Phillips novel. Everyone involved is wonderful

Now rewatching. One of the best movies from the 90s no one talks about.

I have 0 love for Charlotte but currently live here. ICE arrested 100 people, "Operation Charlotte's Web," HOW LAME. Anyhow, they're still here

They arrested 1 guy w a REAL ID & he's a citizen. Smashed his window & dragged him out. They invaded a Home Depot, a grocery store lot. FUCK ICE!

Rewatched a favorite tonight. It never gets old, Barbara Stanwyck is lights out every time I watch it. One of the greatest villains in classic film noir.

Me, Laurel, Brian, and Mary played the Newlywed Game on Brian's podcast last week, it was a lot of fun.

Reminiscent of 1970s gameshows. You know, when they drank, smoked, cussed, etc, on air which were the best of all gameshows.
Hijinks ensue, chaos reigns, and things go terribly awry when Brian Keene and @marysangiovanni.bsky.social face off against @laurelhightower.bsky.social and @frank212.bsky.social in a Keeneversations version of The Newlywed Game! Which couple knows each other better?

Happy Birthday to one of my favorite writers, the singular, Lucia Berlin. Queen of grit.

Poor people wait a lot. Welfare, unemployment lines, laundromats, phone booths, emergency rooms, jails"

Happy birthday to the one-of-a-kind, Kurt Vonnegut

Also, Veterans Day, added a photo of Kurt from WW2. His experiences as a POW, having witnessed the bombing of Dresden, inspired nearly everything he wrote

“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be"

Rewatching THE GREAT OUTDOORS because I love John Candy & it's a classic and hilarious.

The movie came out in 1988, & I've been singing the damn raccoon song from the movie to myself for the last 36 years. Why? I dunno, I'm not right in the head. "Ba ba ba boom. Ba ba ba boom."

Happy Birthday to the singular Sam Shepard. I consider the man's writing HOLY. He holds a special place on my shelves.

“I’ve heard writers talk about “discovering a voice,” but for me that wasn’t a problem. There were so many voices that I didn’t know where to start.”

Happy for the Dem sweep

Mamdani's win is NOT the rise of communism. It's Democratic socialism. Something we lived under from FDR up until GW jr. The rich still rich, but the working class lived a decent life too. My grandpa, a janitor, could afford a decent home, feed his kids
