Nintendo seems to be allergic to the terms "resolution" and "frame rate" and it makes these Splatoon 3 patch notes pretty useless.
"More detail" *might* mean higher resolution, but under the Switch 1 section it says certain objects won't be rendered. So maybe this means adding clutter objects or 🧵

Top two games want to test on Switch 2: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Astral Chain. They are interesting because they both have anti-aliasing disabled in handheld mode.
I'm also curious how games with dynamic resolution like XC2 will handle. I assume they'll maintain their max resolution more often.

I honestly can't tell if it's rendering in 1080p or 720p. I'm fairly certain the UI is 1080p at least, the text is very crisp. Better text will be one of the greatest benefits of the 1080p screen for me.

Second game I played was Echoes of Wisdom. It got a free Switch 2 update. I had to drop this game when it came out because the stuttering made me nauseous. I believe it was rapidly cycling between 30 and 60 fps mode. That's completely gone now. Framerate is very smooth now, even in handheld.

We had fun with the exploration. Every time we found a P-switch we handed off the controller. Some are much easier than others but there are certainly plenty of challenging ones that will take a few attempts to learn

✅ Screen looks bright and colors are punchy. I'm only reminded it's not OLED when it glows on a completely black screen. I haven't tested any darker games yet though.

I've been enjoying the heck out of MHGU, but where the heck did this sucker come from??! Probably skill issue, but high rank Najarala felt like a significant increase in difficulty (and bullshittery). Felt good to get him down tho
