I’m excited to share that my latest research article, “Experimental determination of equilibrium sulfur isotope fractionation factors in the gas–silicate melt–sulfide liquid system,” has just been published in GCA!
The article is available here: www.researchgate.net/publication/...
(PDF) Experimental determination of equilibrium sulfur isotope fractionation factors in the gas-silicate melt-sulfide liquid system
PDF | Sulfur, despite its minor presence (~ 250 µg.g− 1) in the bulk silicate Earth, can exhibit high solubility in melts, up to 1.5 wt. %, depending on... | Find, read and cite all the research you n...

The second paper from my post doc working on IODP Exp 398 is out! We show regional rifting has modulated volcanic processes at Santorini Volcano with rapid rifting resulting in a phase of highly explosive caldera forming eruptions! 🌋

Tectonic modulation of caldera volcanism on the South Aegean Volcanic Arc
Many highly hazardous, caldera-forming explosive eruptions occur in extensional tectonic regimes, but the role of lithospheric rifting in modulating c…

An unexpected discovery of IODP Exp 398! 200 m of ash from the Kos Plateau Tuff eruption buried in the basins around Santorini, read how it got there in our new paper in Science Advances 🌋

Submarine ash megabed fed by far-traveled, shoreline-crossing pyroclastic currents from a large explosive volcanic eruption
Volcanic ash from an eruption in Greece poured into the sea, forming a bed 200 m thick in a submarine basin far from the volcano.

During the last six months there’s been a substantial increase in academics approaching me to ask about leaving #academia

This article articulates many of the reasons why they’re doing that…
"It is impossible to be a top-line manager and administrator and mentor and researcher and writer and outreach officer and IT expert and online instructor and pedagogical innovator and recruiter and teacher and marker and external examiner and press pundit and grant bidder and editor."
It’s Not Your Fault That Academic Life is Getting Harder by Glen O’Hara
Universities are in trouble, and it’s not just money we’re talking about. They are living through something of a crisis of confidence, even of trust and faith. More and more, I find myself, and my col...
