I won't go down without a fight

Sustine, sin cogitare nimis

I do it for the joy it brings
'Cause I'm a joyful girl
'Cause the world owes me nothing
And we owe each other the world
- Ani DiFranco
Thoughts for today: Dic-in-Chief isn't going to run for a third term, he's just going to declare himself president/king. "But the law!" is getting us nowhere; this admin has proven that the laws just keep honest people honest. It's going to get worse before it gets worse.

A reminder that 77ish million people voted for him.
An unprecedented violation of our civic and Constitutional traditions. Calling every military leader in the world back to the U.S. to hear a wildly inappropriate partisan campaign speech followed by a fascist call to use the military against Americans.

I'm so tired of the in-fighting. This is not the time to be looking for the unicorn leader(s), the ones who tick all the boxes and support exactly every thing you want/need them to support. We need to unify against the common enemy and if we can't agree on that being our singular purpose we've lost.

In the office with everyone else at my company for an "optional" on-site day. And of course all meetings are back-to-back with no breaks. They just don't get it.

If your city is destroyed in a hurricane this year, the United States will be too poor to help you rebuild.

But if your city is trying to rebuild a democracy with peaceful protests, we have MILLIONS to deploy men with weapons to destroy you.

Had a couple of good cries today. First, rediscovering photos of mom and grandma from before I was born, second, putting the three little boxes holding the remains of my cats into a larger box to keep them together. When someone comes across the remnants of my life someday, what will they do?

More often than not there are dahlias waiting for me when I visit my love. These were so perfect and delightful. He is delightful and I'm still ridiculously in love.

Drizzly morning morphed into sunny afternoon, so martinis on the back porch it is. I'll take it. Weekends doing not very much will be few and far between this summer. Which unofficially starts next weekend. 😬

Teen Vogue FTW. They’ve been killing it lately. @schumer.senate.gov if you really truly cared about the country over the party, you’d step down as minority leader.
The headline says it all...

A former Schumer staffer, Leah Juliett, is sounding the alarm that Schumer's leadership has "left many young voters increasingly disaffected by politics and disconnected from a party that once felt aligned with our values."

I Used to Work for Chuck Schumer. He's Pushing Young People Away From the Democratic Party.
I blame my former boss for the party's failures.

It's great The Atlantic published the strike plans the administration claims were not shared via text. But if anyone believes for a second that there will be consequences/repercussions, I have news for you: there won't be. This admin is flaunting their control over the narrative. 1/?

Target’s stock plummeted by ~ $27.27 per share by the end of February, erasing about $12.4 billion in market value.

The drop came on Feb. 28, the designated economic blackout day, and coincided with mounting backlash over the retailer’s decision to abandon its DEI commitments.

TIL that holidays such as MLK Day and Juneteenth are "discriminatory" per this administration. Don't be surprised if these holidays go away in the next year.

We are living in very dangerous, unusual times.

Today, the White House ignored a ruling by a Federal District Court because we have President who is an ignorant buffoon with no respect for the law or the Constitution.

THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!

I think almost every day about how the scientific data suggests that before leaded gasoline was banned in the US in 1996, the latent levels of lead in every person in the US had burdens high enough to cause cognitive effects and long term cognitive decline.

Every single person 30 years or older.
The thing that was making America great was apparently lead.
Today EPA chief Lee Zeldin announced that the agency is rolling back 31 regulations.

He's taking aim at mercury, soot, and toxic pollution restrictions, and federal protection of wetlands.

The EPA will also rewrite rules limiting pollution from fossil-fuel plants and cars, and more.

Shameful that any Democrat would vote with Republicans. Stop trying to show the school bully you can be buds by preemptively handing over your lunch money! He's still going to beat your sorry ass after school! Again!
