Learning how to Rewild a few acres to increase biodiversity and maximise natural resources to power our newly built eco home 🌻🌳🦊🏡☀️💨
Behind this chalk bund, full of ox eye daisies, are our solar panels. A metre high the bund does a perfect job of hiding the panels from our neighbours

Bird sound monitoring in the month of May. The little recorder in this photo is from Carbon Rewild. Each year we monitor the progress of having more bird life on our small holding. It’s wonderful to see we have red and amber endangered birds inc skylarks, redstarts & lesser spotted woodpeckers

The Chequered Skipper (Carterocephalus palaemon) is our Species of the Month! ✨

The adult butterflies can be seen on the wing from mid-May to late June in damp, grassy habitats and woodland rides, glades and edges.

Every small patch helps butterflies ,…
Day 3 of #FutureofButterflies conference and Federico Riva explains a surprising finding that small habitat patches are crucial to butterfly survival in the landscape. So we should still try to conserve them and not just focus on large patches

Can this be true in 2025?

A big part of our aim …
Small gardens can boost biodiversity just as much as large ones. And when joined together with others, they create a network of wildlife-friendly spaces that benefit many different species.

Of course Water fines should be used to restore rivers! Putting the money elsewhere would be crazy!
🐟📢 Stand up for salmon! Tomorrow, Parliament debates the Water (Special Measures) Bill.

We're urging the government to formalise the Water Restoration Fund, ensuring Water Company fines are spent on restoring rivers and catchments.

We have a long way to go but there’s so much which could be quickly achieved if governments truly focused on increasing renewables
January 17, 2025 at 12:36 PM
We need more renewables energy
If Spain and Portugal were a country, it'd be the 12th-largest economy on the planet.

It's therefore pretty impressive that renewables and nuclear accounted for 82% of their combined electrical output in 2024.

Wind and solar were 47% of the total mix.

In numbers: The Iberian Peninsula's exceptionally clean electricity mix
Renewables and nuclear accounted for 82% of the electricity produced in Spain and Portugal in 2024, per Ember data.

A step in the right direction
Good to see. And as @craigbennett3.bsky.social says here "there is no place in British agriculture for toxic bee-killing pesticides". And no emergency authorisation should be made in January.
